Become Fit & Proper
on Class of Business Training
A focused online course for key individuals, representatives and compliance professionals who must meet the FSCA Board Notice 194 Class of Business (CoB) training requirement – with clear explanations, practical examples and assessment-aligned content.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the legal definition and purpose of Class of Business training.
- Identify who must complete CoB training and by which deadlines.
- Distinguish between pre-1 April 2018 appointees and new appointees.
- Interpret exemptions and special cases under Board Notice 194.
- Apply CoB requirements to your onboarding and supervision plans.
- Document and evidence CoB training correctly for FSCA inspections.
Your learning journey is broken into short, focussed lessons and activities:
- Lesson 1: Overview of Fit & Proper and where CoB fits in.
- Lesson 2: Legal definition of Class of Business training.
- Lesson 3: Who must complete CoB and when.
- Lesson 4: Exemptions, special cases and practical scenarios.
- Lesson 5: Onboarding, supervision and training registers.
- Mini knowledge checks throughout the course to reinforce learning.
Each lesson is interactive, with examples and reflective questions to help you connect the law to real-life situations in your FSP.
This course is designed to support both individual and organisational compliance:
- Build a clear, documented trail showing that CoB training requirements are understood and applied.
- Align your HR, training and supervision processes with FSCA Fit & Proper standards.
- Reduce the risk of findings during FSCA or compliance inspections.
- Give new KIs and Reps a common foundation before moving on to product-specific training.
Not sure if CoB training applies to you? If you were appointed after 1 April 2018, are under supervision, or are moving into a new product category, CoB training will usually be required.
