Course Overview

The Occupational Certificate: Long Term Insurance Advisor is designed for learners who want to enter or strengthen their role in the financial services sector, particularly in long-term insurance and wealth protection advisory environments.

The programme develops the ability to understand client needs, interpret regulatory requirements, evaluate appropriate solutions, and support clients with professional long-term insurance advice. It also builds competence in workplace processes linked to wealth creation, protection planning, client servicing, and implementation.

This is a full occupational learning journey made up of three integrated parts: a Knowledge Component, a Practical Skills Component, and a Work Experience Component.

What Learners Will Gain

  • Understanding of the long-term insurance and broader financial services environment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to advising clients on insurance and investment-related matters.
  • The ability to analyse client wealth creation and protection needs in a structured way.
  • Practical skills to evaluate suitable options and implement appropriate advice.
  • Workplace readiness through exposure to real advisory and client support processes.
  • Confidence to act ethically, communicate professionally, and maintain sound client records.

Learning Journey

1

Knowledge Modules

Learners build the foundational theory needed to understand the industry, regulation, client advice processes, economics, ethics, current affairs, risk, and product knowledge relevant to long-term insurance advisory work.

2

Practical Skills Modules

Learners apply the theory by analysing client needs, evaluating available solutions, and recommending and implementing appropriate wealth creation and protection options.

3

Work Experience Modules

Learners gain workplace exposure to the processes involved in wealth creation and client advisory practice, helping bridge the gap between learning and real-world performance.
