Professional Refresher Training for FSP Representatives
Eight-lesson online refresher programme
Representative Conduct and Compliance Refresher Programme
Turn required compliance training into stronger advice, safer client interactions and records that can withstand scrutiny. This practical representative compliance refresher brings annual FIC Act learning, FAIS conduct, financial needs analysis, the Record of Advice, POPIA and regulatory change into one focused programme.
Compliance that works in real client conversations
Meet Training Responsibilities and Improve Everyday Conduct
FIC Act compliance requires ongoing employee training, which accountable institutions commonly reinforce through annual refresher training in line with their own RMCP. In addition, the FAIS competence framework requires affected representatives to maintain competence and complete applicable ongoing training and CPD requirements. Consequently, FSPs need learning that does more than record attendance.
A representative may know the name of a law but still struggle when a client is impatient, supplies incomplete information, requests only one product or refuses a full financial needs analysis. Likewise, weak advice motivations and careless information handling may only become visible after a complaint or compliance review. This programme closes the gap between knowing the rule and applying it under real workplace pressure.
Therefore, learners work through practical decisions about gathering information, prioritising needs, explaining limitations, recording advice, recognising FIC Act warning signs and protecting personal information. Because the online lessons are the complete learning material, every important concept is supported by examples, processes, decision tools and reflection activities.
Intended participants
Who Should Attend?
Representatives Who Give Advice
If you recommend financial products, this programme helps you connect client information, identified needs, product features and a clear motivation.
Representatives Who Render Intermediary Services
Similarly, representatives who provide servicing, transaction or communication support will learn how their actions affect the client journey.
New and Experienced Representatives
Whether you are new or experienced, you can strengthen your foundation, refresh your knowledge and improve the way you work.
Representatives Across Different FSPs
Because FSPs differ, learners connect the shared principles to their own FSP’s products, procedures, controls and RMCP.
Programme outcomes
What Learners Should Be Able to Do
Apply Conduct Standards
Translate the FAIS General Code of Conduct into proper disclosure, communication, advice, record keeping and client service.
Give Defensible Advice
Conduct a proportionate needs analysis, deal with limited or refused information and explain why a recommendation is suitable.
Build a Reliable Record
Create a Record of Advice that shows the facts considered, options discussed, recommendation, risks, costs and client decisions.
Recognise FIC Act Duties
Recognise warning signs, follow the FSP’s RMCP, avoid tipping off and escalate concerns through the correct internal route.
Protect Client Information
Apply practical POPIA principles when collecting, using, storing, sharing and disposing of personal information.
Prepare for Change
Build the professional “jungle skills” needed to adapt to AI, robo-advice, digital delivery and the emerging COFI environment.
Eight-lesson curriculum
Representative Compliance Refresher Training Programme
Each lesson contains detailed topic-level learning, practical examples and an assessment. Learners should complete the lessons in order because later lessons build on the conduct, advice and evidence principles introduced earlier.
01 · Programme lesson
Outcomes-Based Regulation and Representative Accountability
First, explore why regulation is moving from rule-checking to customer outcomes and how everyday conduct creates regulatory evidence.
02 · Programme lesson
FAIS General Code of Conduct in Practice
Next, turn honesty, fairness, due care, disclosure, conflicts and suitable-advice requirements into practical conduct.
03 · Programme lesson
Due Skill, Care, Diligence and Professional Evolution
Then, build the competent professional conduct and “jungle skills” needed as regulation, technology and client expectations evolve.
04 · Programme lesson
Conducting a Practical Financial Needs Analysis
In practice, learn to gather facts, analyse gaps and handle single-need clients, incomplete information or a refused FNA.
05 · Programme lesson
The Record of Advice as Evidence and Defence
Afterwards, replace weak statements such as “the client is happy” with a personalised and defensible advice record.
06 · Programme lesson
Annual FIC Act Refresher for Representatives
Moreover, refresh your understanding of financial-crime risk, due diligence, suspicious activity, escalation, records and the FSP’s RMCP.

What the Programme Includes
Complete Online Lessons
The online lessons are the learner’s primary study material and explain each concept in depth.
Practical Scenarios and Tools
Workplace examples, decision guides, FNA calculators, model wording and reflection activities support application.
Lesson Assessments
After each lesson, a focused quiz helps learners check their understanding before they continue.
FSP-Specific Follow-Through
Importantly, learners connect the generic principles to their own FSP’s procedures, controls, products and RMCP.
Learn in the Field
Busy representatives can study on a smartphone or tablet wherever they have a stable internet connection. Therefore, a laptop is not required.
Certificate Valid for 12 Months
Once the programme’s completion requirements have been met, the learner receives a certificate that is valid for 12 months.
Training Register for Compliance Evidence
In addition, Nkwali Training maintains a training register that the FSP can use as evidence that its representatives completed the training.
Important context
Training Supports Good Conduct; It Does Not Replace FSP Controls
This programme provides broad refresher training for representatives working in different FSPs. However, each learner must still follow the requirements that apply to the learner’s role, mandate, supervision status and the FSP’s licence, policies and approved procedures.
Because financial-sector laws and regulatory developments can change, learners should use current FSP guidance and primary regulatory sources when making decisions. Furthermore, matters outside a representative’s authority or knowledge must be escalated through the FSP’s approved channel.
Ready to Strengthen Compliance and Representative Conduct?
Give your representatives practical refresher training that supports FIC Act and FAIS competence responsibilities while improving advice, record keeping and client protection. Moreover, they can learn from a smartphone or tablet while working in the field.
On successful completion, learners receive a certificate valid for 12 months. In addition, the training register provides useful evidence for the FSP’s compliance records.
